JOB DESCRIPTION

Data Platform Engineer

As a Data Platform Engineer, you’ll play a central role in shaping the infrastructure that powers a 24/7 trading floor and supports hundreds of renewable energy assets—from solar and wind to batteries. You will join a small, highly capable team that designs and scales robust data pipelines, empowers real-time operations, and builds systems that turn complex data into strategic decisions.

We believe in continuous learning, pragmatic problem-solving, and shared ownership of the systems we create. We’re committed to fostering an inclusive, collaborative environment where engineers work closely with users and stakeholders to drive impact in the evolving landscape of European energy markets.

You enjoy

  • Solving problems in a pragmatic and iterative way to help the business win.
  • Evolving in a fast-paced, operation-driven environment and having close contact with users and stakeholders.
  • Working in a small but highly functioning team, able to deliver features from requirements to quality assessment and tests with stakeholders.
  • Designing, building, and scaling data pipelines and warehouse models that support everything from our 24/7 international trading floor to managing a portfolio made of hundreds of solar and wind assets as well as batteries.
  • Taking ownership for the system you build and planning improvements based on feedback from users and operations.
  • Learning, all the time, not only about technology but also about work organization.

You can support the team with...

  • 5+ years experience with software and data engineering.
  • Writing clean, maintainable SQL and Python code, managing it with version control, and collaborating effectively through code review.
  • Using continuous delivery best-practices and github-actions to deliver value daily and evaluate progress with stakeholders.
  • Building scalable and efficient data pipelines using Airflow, Google BigQuery, DBT and surrounding tools in the GCP and AWS ecosystems.
  • Managing infrastructure using IaC and pulumi.
  • Applying best practices in design and data modelling to design and build a warehouse that is usable, exhaustive, safe and cost-efficient.
  • Communicating clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders about functional and non-functional requirements, limitations, and solutions.

You will learn to...

  • Understand European energy markets and the ins and outs of a trading floor.
  • Help stakeholders transform their ideas into working applications and data pipelines, supported by data warehousing and insights.
  • Be part of a remote self-organizing and high-functioning team which owns its processes and experiments continuously with new ideas and tools.
  • Approach technical problems with data-driven insights and collaboration with your peers.
  • Use BigQuery not just as a warehouse, but as a strategic tool for building fast, scalable, and maintainable data systems.
